The variety is what I like most about the L'OR Barista Absolu. There are 18 (!) hot and iced coffee creations to choose from, not that I've had the chance to try them all yet. Selecting a drink is straightforward. The six dedicated iced recipes work well and make a welcome addition to the usual hot options.

Intensity Boost makes a noticeable difference when I want a stronger coffee, while capsule recognition is reliable. The XXL capsules are especially useful: one makes a large, strong cup without needing two regular capsules. The machine also dispenses the right amount for the size selected.

The movable water tank is a thoughtful touch and enables you to place the tank in a convenient position. It stays securely in place in each position and hasn't leaked. Cleaning and routine maintenance are easy, so using the machine feels refreshingly uncomplicated. My only reservation is the plastic finish, which looks a little cheap alongside an otherwise very capable machine.

I already own a L’or coffee machine, but wanted an extra one for my home office. This machine is marvellous - it has iced coffee settings, as well as hot coffee drink settings. It looks great, the grey model matches my decor perfectly, and the machine doesn’t take up much space at all. I particularly like that the water tank is movable on this model, as it suits me better to have the tank on the side of the machine. Moving the tank was a simple process, and it was done in only a few seconds. The XXL pods are really handy, as two drinks can be made at the same time.

The intensity boost button does genuinely give a boost to the coffee strength too, I’ll be using that button a lot! The iced coffee option is also very easy to use, it’s simply one extra button to press before making your iced drink of choice. It’s quieter than my previous L’or coffee machine, and the various parts generally seem a little sturdier too, which is good. Only a few parts to remove when you need to clean the machine, and very easy to put it all back together again too. All in all, a great little coffee machine

I do love a good coffee, so having a machine that gives me so many different options is a definite win! What I really like about the L'OR Barista Absolu is that it feels a bit more special than your average capsule machine without being overly complicated.

There's a fantastic variety of drinks available, and I love that you're not stuck making the same coffee every morning. The option to make iced coffees is a brilliant addition too, especially when you fancy something different.

The design is lovely and modern, and the movable water tank is actually really handy. It's one of those little features you don't necessarily think about until you realise how useful it is!

I also appreciate how quick and convenient the whole process is. Nobody wants to spend ages making a coffee first thing in the morning!

Overall, it's a really versatile machine that's easy to use and looks great in the kitchen. I'm definitely enjoying having it around, and it's made my daily coffee feel like a bit more of a treat!

I’d definitely recommend buying this machine if you want a compact, attractive and easy-to-use coffee maker with plenty of drink options. Its quick heat-up time, compatibility with different pods and flexible water tank position make it a particularly good choice for everyday use. If you enjoy varying your coffee styles and want a machine that looks good on the kitchen worktop too, it’s well worth considering. It makes espresso, classic lungo, iced coffee and other styles. The L’Or XXL pods are convenient as I often use two smaller pods to make a stronger brew.

I put the L'OR BARISTA Absolu through its paces over a two-week period at work. During testing, I tried everything from the official L'OR pods and budget supermarket alternatives to original Nespresso capsules. The machine handled all of them effortlessly and had no trouble recognising the different pod sizes to deliver the right drink size every time.

Drink Quality & Features

The drink quality really impressed me. Both the hot and cold options came out great, and being able to tweak the brew intensity is a huge plus if you like your coffee a bit stronger or milder.

A Few Drawbacks

Water Tank Size: The water tank is on the smaller side. In a workplace setting, I found myself topping it up multiple times a day.

Build Quality: The body feels a bit plastic-heavy and lightweight, especially when compared to sturdy alternatives.

The Bottom Line

A versatile, great-performing pod machine that delivers fantastic hot and cold drinks with zero pod-compatibility issues—just be prepared for frequent water refills and a slightly lighter build.

This coffee machine has been absolutely excellent so far. It looks incredible in the kitchen and it is something which has a really sleek design and I have had so many people compliment my coffee machine which really gives me a huge boost. This does not even compare to the fact that it makes excellent coffee. I have bought several different coffee pods and I have been able to use this machine for myself, my family, and my friends without any issues at all. They all say it tastes great!

It is much more efficient than some of the previous coffee machines that I have used and I think that using this machine has allowed me to get the best out of my coffee. I'm really impressed with it and I certainly will be using it for years to come. It is also quiet which is a huge bonus!
