Not a thick, warm, winter coat by any means. It's super thin and not warm. I wore this on a 35 degree day in upstate NY with a sweater and was chilly. Will use in Spring & Fall but not for winter

Love the double layers. I wear it while hiking and I like being able to alter my layers based on the weather or my activity level. And when I wear just the over layer it is a little oversized but with both it fits perfect. Which is generally the size I go for. Personally would only size up if you intend on wearing many sweaters under it because the jacket is super warm if you even wear a single sweater underneath. Although this is in Utah, and sometimes in Minnesota winters, you may just have to upsize because of that.

I walk six days a week for 2-3 miles in all types of weather. It rains a lot in our state so I need a waterproof and wind proof coat to keep me warm and dry. I haven't had this coat long enough to know how warm it will keep me in 30 degree weather but am hopeful it will. It has kept me dry and knowing it is wind proof will be helpful. I am counting on the reputation of North Face that this coat will work well. Love the style, the dark navy color and the removable puffer coat I can wear separately when the weather is milder.

The jacket is ok, the inner jacket in no way is an xxl. It's an xl at best, so don't expect to be able to zip it like you can the outer shell.

I love that you can remove the outer layer and wear the puffer as is. The pockets are huge.

Purchased this for a trip to Iceland and it was perfect for layering and in wet conditions.
